How do we support them support the communities to develop local centres of excellence?

Leveraging value-addition opportunities to build local markets.

Digital Village. Set up as a resource mobilization and capacity development centre where community members can access digital services.

Job creation: Build a platform for linking skilled workers listed on the app with job opportunities arising from farming enterprises within their localities.

Digital Village. Capability Building

Digital Village: Set up resource centres where community members can access digital services. Farm reporting services, IT training, Software development, Computer hardware and networking solutions. Free Wi-Fi for internet connectivity. Free electricity for charging phones and laptops.

Job Creation

Job creation: Build a platform for linking skilled workers with job opportunities. Farmers will be able to see the skilled service providers registered in their location and contact them for their services e.g. mason for constructing a cattle shed, irrigation specialist, marketer for value-added services and branding, bookkeeper, agronomist, veterinary etc. Service providers are rated at the end of every transaction with a farmer. The ratings and reviews are available for all app users to enable them evaluate performance of a service provider before engaging them for their services.

Model: Set up posho mill and packaging unit to supply local retailer with maize (corn) flour. Community members share proceeds of sales from the mill and also have a reliable market for their produce.
